Outlook Express is the most widely used e-mail/news client that was incorporated in Internet Explorer versions 4.0 through 6.0. The application is primarily used for sending and receiving the e-mails in the form of username@domainname format. While the home users still prefer to use web-based e-mail programs, Outlook Express is mainly used in organizations to systematically organize and secure the data. The data in the Outlook Express is stored in the mail folder with .dbx extension. To send the messages over the Internet, Outlook Express uses SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).
Once the Outlook Express is installed and started, you will be able to the below folders in the left pane:
Inbox: Contains all the received e-mails sent to your account/address.
Outbox: Space allocated for the e-mails that have been sent but have not reached destination. It displays the ongoing transaction process.
Sent Items: Contains all the sent e-mails
Deleted Items: Contains all the deleted e-mails. Once the e-mails are deleted from this folder, they are permanently deleted. To recover those e-mails, you will need to use Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery software.
Drafts: Saves an email that is incomplete or needs to send at a later point of time.
Attachments: Contains all the attachments sent with every e-mail.
Address book: Contains all the contacts including their address, phone numbers, etc.
Signature: Contains a pre-created signature that gets added to every outgoing e-mail.
